Sealing Ducts

There are millions of homes in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area with forced air heating and cooling systems.

In houses with forced-air heating and cooling systems, ducts are used to distribute conditioned air throughout the house. In a typical house, however, about 20 percent of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks and poorly sealed connections. The result is higher utility bills and difficulty keeping the house comfortable, no matter how the thermostat is set.

Duct leakage can prevent a home from heating and cooling properly, can cause humidity problems and create air quality problems by pulling air from the attic into your home.

Because some ducts are concealed in walls and between floors, repairing them can be difficult. However, exposed ducts in attics, basements, crawlspaces, and garages can be repaired by sealing the leaks with duct sealant (also called duct mastic). In addition, insulating ducts that run through spaces that get hot in summer or cold in winter (like attics, garages, or crawlspaces) can save significant energy. EnergyAttic Radiant Barrier Bubble Wrap insulation is an insulating product that can be wrapped around current duct work to keep air cooler as it travels through your attic. This product is also a radiant barrier reflecting 97% of the radiant heat keeping the air cooler or warmer as it travels through your attic to heat or cool your home.

EnergyAttic Radiant Barrier will come in and check the seal on the air conditioning unit air loss due to improperly sealed ductwork
